A delegation of engineers from Japan -based Otake Corp. recently visited the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) headquarters in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, to evaluate the country's rice milling capabilities and investigate potential advancements in local brown rice production. Raymund Joseph Macaranas, chief of PHilMech's Agricultural Mechanization Division, led the discussions, emphasizing the agency's advanced rice milling technologies and ongoing projects.
The Japanese visitors expressed keen interest in PHilMech's impeller hulling machine for brown rice and the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund program as they delved into the state of the Philippine rice industry and potential areas for improvement.The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has spearheaded the development of innovative rice milling technologies that have recently garnered attention from international experts.
