That’s how the owners of MEV describe their feelings about their home, designed by the unconventional Quebec architect, who says they are “two admirable eccentrics, passionate about art and Italian design of the ’80s, who wanted to inject a whimsical energy into their daily lives.” After viewing the work of Verville, the couple, who wish to remain anonymous, decided he was the architect to create their dream home.
“We were involved from the very start, going back and forth with them, with our ideas. We insisted they add curves in the design. They really captured our needs and desires of colours, fun and playfulness. But we let JVA do what they do best: surprise us.” Verville says, when planning the project, he had the couple show him films, objects of design and works of art with which they identified, rather than architectural works., is in the shape of an “L,” one part holding the kitchen, living room, and den, and the other the main bedroom and bathroom with the garage and workshop. Dark Maibec envelopes the exterior with no hint of the wild interior, a riot of yellow and orange on acrylic film.
