“It was so much fun. We’re looking at doing another one this fall,” Ainslie said in an emailed statement following the event.

A community skate was held beforehand, followed by the game at 6:20 p.m.
The event was an outreach event by Queer Hockey Nova Scotia, not just to make connections with the 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Pictou County but also to facilitate connections between local pride organizations and organizations based out of Halifax.Pictou County kicks off Pride Week with flag raisings “Hopefully, from there, we can continue to grow the queer sports community. For us, it would be focused on hockey. Still, we’re hoping maybe this will continue to have other queer organizations in Halifax reaching out to the smaller communities to bring more than just hockey as like a queer sporting event,” said David Lewis, an organizer of Queer Hockey Nova Scotia during an interview before the event.
Participants and audience members had the opportunity to win one of the jersey's players wore during the game on April 20. All money raised during the event went towards Pictou County Pride's 2024 pride festival being held June 17-23, as well as Queer Hockey Nova Scotia. Contributed
