The beginning of dating usually consists of going to dinner and a few movies… and surfing? For Katherine MacLaine, her love of the sport was born when she started dating her now-husband, Andrew.

“P.E.I. enjoys hundreds of kilometers of coastline, however only a portion of it has the right variables to receive surf. The North Shore of P.E.I. provides the best opportunity to find waves, usually during windy days when the wind is from the North. We live in Rustico and have discovered some incredible waves along the Gulfshore Parkway,” she shared.

“A lot of people don’t think you can surf here, so it often comes as a bit of surprise, but when the stars align, the coast lights up."For those thinking of giving it a try, MacLaine encourages getting some quality gear and being patient with progress. “The first time I caught a wave felt incredible. I was 100% present in the moment. Although it was a small wave, it had a huge impact.”
