CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Two Prince Edward Islanders and UPEI Panthers have been named to the Canadian under-20 female rugby team roster.
Panthers head coach James Voye said making Team Canada’s roster is a result of a lot of hard work by Johnston and MacLean. “It was really exciting to play against and with so many amazing players and coached by so many knowledgeable coaches,” said Johnston. “It was a real amazing experience.” “We were doing tackling drills, and a girl got my foot underneath her and pulled it backwards,” said MacLean. “It was unfortunate.”MacLean admitted it has been tough mentally recovering from the injury, but she returned to the pitch for the first time last weekend with the Abbies’ provincial senior women’s team.
