At the special screening of Mikhael Red’s Nokturno, Nadine Lustre, who stars in the lead role, was asked to comment on fans calling her the new “Horror
Actress Nadine Lustre stars in ‘Nokturno’ as an OFW who goes back home to the Philippines following the sudden death of her sister Queen” of local cinema. This comes after her starring role in Deleter, which earned her the Best Actress award at the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival , as well as her current roles in Nokturno and Uninvited, another MMFF entry where she shares the screen with no less than Vilma Santos and Aga Muhlach.
“So aside from, you know, watching horror movies, getting scared by them, at least this time around, I’m part of that story,” she added. In the movie, Nadine is Jamie, an overseas worker who returns to the Philippines from Dubai after the sudden and violent death of her sister, Joana , the story delves into family secrets and eerie folklore. Despite her estrangement from her mother, Lilet , Jamie is compelled to return home to protect her traumatized younger brother, Julius .
