Man engaged in conduct with the intention to create fear and impede local prosecutor faces further 1,082 days behind bars
Brook Makara already was looking at time in a federal penitentiary when he appeared in a Sault Ste. Marie courtroom Thursday to be sentenced for firearms offences.
With the enhanced credit he received for his pre-sentence custody, Makara faces a further 1,082 days -- just under three years -- behind bars. The accused was sitting at the counsel table, next to the prosecutor, Terry Waltenbury, a Sudbury assistant Crown attorney, told the court. "He demonstrated there were some challenges to the Crown's evidence, and deserves credit for that," the judge said, describing him as prolific in writing, articulate in speech and analytical.
