In honour of Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie’s last day presiding over a city council session — the next one in July will have the new mayor —with the Toronto logo by her colleagues, led by councillors Paula Fletcher and Mike Colle. “She stepped into the breach and did an incredible job, a super job,” Colle said. “The city of Toronto owes a debt of gratitude to you, Jennifer, and your family.”

Unfortunately, when the kids inquired whether the cake was allergy-free they were told it was not. This cut their excitement short but provided them a valuable lesson in city politics.
