have emerged as the party wrestles with the preselection process for five seats less than 100 days from the state election.
Describing himself as “the most conservative man in the Liberal Party”, Elliott said he was “no feminist” but in a social media post on Saturday he lamented the Liberal Party’s record on preselecting women. On branch-stacking, Perrottet refused to be drawn on the expulsion of six NSW division members, which was ratified at a meeting of state executive on Friday.As part of a motion to expel the members, the meeting heard state director Chris Stone say he believed the scheme was likely to reduce the division’s prospects of success at the 2023 state election, if it had not already.
The expulsions, which can be appealed against, mark the most significant disciplinary action taken by the party in decades. They follow an extensive investigation that included independent and in-house cybersecurity experts and the examination of more than 60 boxes of hard copy membership records.
