MANILA, Philippines: Controlling inflation remains the most pressing concern of nearly 7 out of 10 Filipinos while amending the 1987 Constitution is the least of their concerns in the first quarter of 2024, according to a survey by OCTA Research.

In the survey conducted from March 11-14, 66 percent of Filipinos said that controlling the increase in prices of basic goods and services was an urgent matter, followed by improving salaries of workers at 44 percent.

Mindanao respondents are also more concerned about access to affordable food at 63 percent, which is 20-30 percent higher than the other major areas in the country.All socioeconomic classes also consider inflation as the top urgent concern, with the highest among Class E at 67 percent. However, OCTA noted that the figures were lower than the previous quarter by as much as 14 percent for class E and six percent for class D.
