MANILA - Tropical storm "Ineng" maintained its strength as it moved towards southern Taiwan and the Batanes area, the state weather bureau said Friday.

MANILA - Tropical storm "Ineng" maintained its strength as it moved towards southern Taiwan and the Batanes area, the state weather bureau said Friday.

PAGASA said Ineng remains less likely to make landfall in the country. It will be closest to Batanes province Saturday morning. Tropical cyclone wind signal No. 2 was raised over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, while TCWS no. 1 was raised over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will affect Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, the Mindoro provinces, northern portion of Palawan , Aklan, Antique, western portion of Iloilo, the rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.
