KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 — Tired of not being able to get a debtor to return money owed, an Indonesian dangdut singer decided to gatecrash her wedding instead.
The singer, identified by her only name Ayu, said the bride Dewi had borrowed Rp 18 million from her in 2021 and made no effort to return the money,According to Ayu, aside from herself, Dewi also borrowed from their circle of friends and also failed to return the money owed to them. Ayu said she could not understand why Dewi would resort to borrowing money from her friends as she was from a well-to-do family.
Ayu’s opportunity to ask for a return of the loan, however, presented itself during Dewi’s wedding recently. A clip of Ayu turning up at Dewi’s wedding to ask for a return of the loan had since gone viral on social media.
