Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin expresses hope that the Iglesia Ni Cristo's (INC) nationwide peace rally on January 13, 2025, will bring clarity and unity to address the country's challenges. The rally, expected to draw a massive crowd, is seen as a show of support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s stance against the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin is hopeful that the peace rally by the Iglesia Ni Cristo ( INC ) across the country on Monday, January 13, 2025, will bring clarity and promote unity amid issues currently being faced by the country. In a statement, Bersamin expressed support for a peaceful assembly, which he called as a 'bedrock right” guaranteed by the Constitution. He urged all government agencies to ensure that this right being exercised by the INC is not impaired.
'Walang duda ang aming paniniwala na magiging mapayapa, matiwasay at makabuluhan ang mga pagtitipon sa araw na ito. Higit sa lahat, umaasa kami na ang mga ipapahayag na mga opinyon ay makakatulong sa paglilinaw sa mga usaping kinakaharap ng ating bansa at maghahatid sa atin sa tunay na pagkakaisa na ating inaasam,’ said Bersamin. (There is no doubt in our belief that the gatherings today will be peaceful, orderly, and meaningful. Above all, we hope that the opinions expressed will help clarify the issues our country is facing and lead us to the true unity we all desire.)‘Sa pagkilatis at pakikinig lamang sa lahat ng panig sa isang usapin ang siyang magdudulot ng kalinawan na ating hinahanap. We view today’s assemblies as part of the national conversation we should be having as a people to bring clarity and consensus on issues that face us all and affect our future,’ he added. (Only by examining and listening to all sides of an issue can we achieve the clarity we seek. We view today’s assemblies as part of the national conversation we should be having as a people to bring clarity and consensus on issues that affect us all and shape our future.)The INC gathering will be a show of support for the pronouncement of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte. As of 2 p.m., the local government unit's monitoring estimated the crowd at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila City to be 1,410,344. Philippine National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said around 8,000 police personnel were deployed for the maintenance of peace and order during the event, which is simultaneously being held nationwide.
