This year’s top-three contenders for the heaviest pumpkin were proudly on display at Dill Family Farm Oct. 1. - Aimee AldenTaking top prize for his heavy pumpkin was Steam Mill’s Fred Ansems, with a pumpkin weighing 1,556 lbs. He won last year's competition with a 1,359-lb. pumpkin. The youngest grower at this year’s Great Howard Dill Pumpkin Classic, Callie Zinck, 7, from East River, proudly posed with her giant tomato, which weighed in at 1.67 lbs. First place went to Fred Ansems, from Steam Mill, with a weight of 3.42 lbs. - Aimee AldenCatherina Ansems receives her ribbon and cheque for winning second-longest gourd, measuring in at 123.5 inches. Handing out the awards were Danny Dill, left, and town crier Lloyd Smith.
