Our featured artist today is more than a painter. Alvin Montano is a storyteller who draws us into a world where art lives and breathes in the everyday.
Beyond the canvas, he plays many roles: Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Philippine Pastel Artists, Inc.; Director of the Progressive Artists Society of the Philippines – Manila Chapter; and a member of the Filipino Portrait Artists Guild. He also serves as President of Cheers .We talked to Alvin about all these and more, here is that conversation.Can you tell us about your journey as a visual artist? Did your parents influence you to pursue art?My journey began when I was around six.
How would you describe your art style in simple terms, and where do you find your inspiration?My style is called Contemporary Realism. I paint things as they appear in real life, but with a modern touch. I focus on real-life scenes — landscapes, people at work, everyday moments — and present them naturally and honestly.Inspiration comes from many things. Sometimes, it’s a concept that’s been sitting in my mind.
