Hackers have shut down the official Facebook page of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO). ManilaBulletin

In a statement sent to the Iloilo Police Press Corps, the IPPO warned that “hackers already posted nudity/sexual contents on the page.”

“The public is requested to report to Facebook the Iloilo Police Provincial Office page for nudity or sexual content/adult nudity so that Facebook will take down the page,” it added.Police Major Rolando Araño, IPPO spokesperson, said the page was hacked on Tuesday, April 18.They later learned that hackers gained access to the page when an email was sent via the IPPO email address.

In that email sent by someone who posed as Facebook Business Managers, the message urged the page administrator to activate its Business Account to boost the number of audience. “The IPPO warns the public to avoid entertaining emails from people who pose as Facebook affiliates,” the IPPO added. The IPPO reported the incident to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit at the Police Regional Office -6.related stories
