ILOILO CITY — A 69-year-old woman is the first dengue-related death in this city this year, the City Health Office reported Monday.CHO head Dr. Annabelle Tang said the victim is a resident of Barangay Tabuc Suba in Jaro district.Tang said the woman was in the critical stage of dengue when she was brought to the hospital. The patient, who exhibited yellowish skin, was also found to be positive for leptospirosis and had kidney issues.
Every Saturday, villages also conduct a thorough cleanup drive to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and prevent other illnesses.In response to the possible surge in cases, the city government is set to open a new hydration unit at the La Paz Maternity and Reproductive Health Center.The unit, located on the second floor of the facility, is expected to be operational by the end of this week.
