A new breakthrough in connectivity technology has been introduced by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers .
The engineers highlighted the advantages of light versus the radio frequency claiming that it is"faster, reliable wireless communication with uncontested security compared to conventional technologies such as WiFi and 5G". But obviously, it won't replace WiFi, 5G options, or wired yet. Radio waves will remain to have a unique advantage with regard to transmission through the atmosphere at long distances and through transparent objects.
This is thanks to utilizing the light spectrum, they also added that it can deliver speeds reaching up to 224GB/s. Fraunhofer noted the fact that it operates in an exclusive optical spectrum, this shows that it has improved reliability and minimal latencies and jitters.
