OPINION: I’m looking forward to Christmas ... because I can’t wait for the whole painful palaver to be over.

Like most people, I’m looking forward to Christmas this year. However, unlike most, my eagerness is not because I enjoy the season, it’s because I can’t wait for the whole painful palaver to be over.

You see, I have no family to spend the day with. I have a brother I adore, but he lives overseas and so, every year, I’m left to find other ways to get through the day of forced merriment. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to go to a place that always gives me perspective, a sanctuary of goodness and love and giving.
