Scientific officers are working to identify human remains found at the scene of a house explosion as police continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Emergency services responded to the fire at the two-storey home at Nambucca Close, Murrumba Downs, about 1pm on Wednesday, with the property well ablaze when firefighters arrived.

On Thursday morning, Detective Acting Inspector Stephen Windsor said a crew at the scene found four nine-kilogram gas bottles in “what was believed to be the living room”. The posts included concerns over his apparently inability to make new mortgage payments, fears he would lose his home, and criticism of the Reserve Bank.
