Player salaries in the AFL will grow massively in the coming seasons, as those in the millionaires club welcome new members due to more money pouring into the game.
Most people think there are 18 clubs in the AFL right now. This isn't a trivia session, so no need to count them.
Next season may see over 50 players join the once-exclusive club, with the 100-player mark possible by the end of the decade. It covers everything from leave periods to licensing guidelines, including a section called the Memorabilia Signing Guidelines. The ABC has combined these documents to project what the future might look like. We should expect the millionaire club to have between 30 and 54 players in 2025.The big deals, such as the next bombshell move of one of the game's elite, should start to nudge $2 million per year fairly soon.
An 18-match season of 54 pounds, plus finals bonuses, was only a fraction of a factory worker's income. It's a few thousand dollars in today's money.
