Thousands of Australians will head out on Saturday night to count down to 2023, with events to be held across the country. Here are all the details you need to know about the celebrations in your city.
Australia has the lucky title of being one of the first countries in the world to celebrate the New Year, and the world-renowned Sydney fireworks will see thousands of tourists flock to the Harbour City to enjoy the spectacle. Picture: Facebook, Luna ParkThe Emerald City will be welcoming back its traditional harbourside fireworks celebrations this New Year’s Eve after two years of COVID-19 disruptions.
Fireworks will kick off at 9pm, with this year’s early pyrotechnics display set to celebrate the city’s wealth of Indigenous history. Thirty rooftops in the city’s centre will launch fireworks, with a five-minute fireworks display at 9.30pm and an eight-minute display at midnight. Adelaide Fringe organisers are holding a free festival in Rymill Park with two firework shows - one at the family-friendly time of 9.30pm and the other at the stroke of midnight.
