It is more remarkable that it was Taboada’s first long-distance race. He also went up against some of the finest cyclists in the Visayas and Mindanao region. He said that he used to borrow spare bicycles from his friends two years ago when he became interested in cycling. “Sa una mangulos ra ko og bike para makabike ko. Mao to nangandoy ko nga maayo unta makapalit ko og bike,” he said.
“Nadisgraya ko sa last stage sa may Barili area. Mao to nangulos kog lain bike. Nakaapas nako sa grupo sa riders diri na sa may Dumanjug. Nabuak ang frame sa akong bike pagkadisgrasya nako. Pasalamat kaayo ko sa Ginoo kay safe ra wala koy bali,” Taboada said.
