Sustainability is one of the things that consumers, especially those in the younger generations, have been growing more concerned about in recent years.
One brand that has decided to heed this call is Danish variety store chain Flying Tiger Copenhagen. Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, and opening its first store in the Philippines last October 2023, the brand offers a wide variety of products such as toys, party decorations, basic home essentials, fitness accessories, and many more. In its mission to uphold sustainability, its products utilize wood and metal as well as recycled plastic.
With its advocacy for social responsibility, Flying Tiger Copenhagen has implemented systems that aim to minimize the brand’s environmental footprint. These efforts include removing 47 percent of plastic from the packaging of its products and successfully reducing its overall emissions by 26 percent. As it removed about 37 percent of its single-use products from its offerings, it was able to significantly reduce its plastic consumption as well as have 19 percent less plastic in its products.
With its noticeable move towards sustainability, the brand is taking things a step further through its commitment to reducing plastic products in its offerings by 50 percent in 2025, achieving 50 percent recycled plastics by 2025, and reducing single-use products by 50 percent. This would mean that it will have cut back nearly 34 million single-use products by 2026.
