Hospital group’s chief to public: Wear face masks amid rise in cases

PRIVATE Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. president Dr. Jose de Grano appealed on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, for the public to continue wearing face masks even as the government made its use optional in open and well-ventilated places amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

From September 19 to 25, the Department of Health recorded 17,891 new Covid-19 cases in the country, 22 percent higher than the cases recorded during the week prior. Meanwhile, in a press conference, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said there were several factors that contribute to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Under Executive Order 3 signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the wearing of face masks in “open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation” across the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic is already voluntary.
