HONDA Cars Philippines Inc. has initiated recall campaigns affecting more than 6,000 of its vehicles in the country due to potential safety issues. The motor vehicle manufacturer has informed the Department of Trade and Industry in two separate letters dated Jan. 9, 2025, that THE recall is related to issues regarding steering gearbox and high-pressure fuel pump . Affected modelsAccording to
the car models that have issues with their steering gearbox include Civic 4D with 2,463 units; CR-V , 2,762 units; and Civic Type-R , 280 units. The issue stems from a decrease in the amount of grease in the worm gear of the electric power steering gearbox, leading to increased sliding resistance and torque fluctuation during use. This malfunction could result in abnormal noise or sticky steering, posing a potential danger to drivers.
in its letter to the DTI, said the fuel pumps in the CR-V units might have cracks in their Core B, which could result in gasoline leakage. Primary functionThe primary function of HPFP is to deliver fuel at high pressure directly into the combustion chamber of the engine. This high pressure allows for more precise control over the fuel injection process, leading to improved combustion efficiency, power output, and fuel economy.
