The hopes of providing a “better” Christmas for the Filipinos inspired the national government to further improve the coronavirus disease vaccination program as it exceeded its expectations for the month of October.From Oct. 1 to 31, a total of 34,887,870 doses have been delivered to the country, according to data from the National Task Force Against COVID-19 which were analyzed by the Manila Bulletin.
Nearly 50 percent of the delivered vaccines or 15,161,350 doses were procured by the national government from various vaccine manufacturers. There were also 5,714,300 doses of AstraZeneca from the United Kingdom; 5.5 million doses of Sinovac-CoronaVac from China; 3,495,440 doses of Moderna from US; and 1,120,000 doses of Sputnik V from Russia that came in.
In the past 30 days, a total of 7,472,109 individuals were injected with their first dose while 5,711,374 others were fully vaccinated as the inoculation of pediatric sector or those aged 12 to 17 kicked off last Oct. 15 in Metro Manila.
