Si Ferdinand Marcos, na kalaunan ay naging pangulo at diktador ng Pilipinas, ang sundalong may pinakamaraming parangal noong World War II.Napatunayang nagsinungaling si Marcos tungkol sa ibang medalyon na natanggap niya umano mula sa Amerika noong WWII, batay sa mga opisyal na dokumento, sa ulat ng gobyerno ng Amerika, at iba pang pag-aaral. Wala ring mga ulat, recording, o opisyal na dokumento na nagpapatunay na siya nga ang sundalo na may pinakamaraming parangal noong digmaang ito.
Nakalagay ang mga sabi-sabing ito sa isang retrato na naglilista ng mga umano’y tagumpay ni Marcos bilang sundalo noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig.“Ferdinand Marcos’ extraordinary valor and courage, as well as his commitment to his line of duty, earned for him several medals of recognition. He was the most decorated soldier in the land at the end of World War II.”ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines ang katotohanan sa mga medalyon ni Marcos sa isang pag-aaral.
1945 pa lamang, si Marcos mismo ay nagsinungaling tungkol sa mga medalyon na natanggap niya umano mula sa gobyerno ng Amerika: ang Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, at Order of the Purple Heart. Ayon din sa pag-aaaral ng NHCP, hindi nakalista si Marcos bilang isa sa mga nakatanggap ng tatlong parangal na unang binanggit.
Hindi siya kasama sa mga opisyal na dokumento at sa website ng Amerika na naglilista ng mga nakatanggap ng mga nasabing parangal. (
