Members of the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic and MMDA personnel issue violation tickets to motorists who were caught using the bus lane along EDSA Evangelista in Makati City, July 7 2023. The IACT has been campaigning against motorists using the bus lane on EDSA. The bus lane is reserved for public utility buses, part of the EDSA Carousel system only. Unauthorized use of the bus lane by erring motorists not only inconveniences the public, but it also endangers their lives..
MMDA chairman Romando Artes said there are many errant drivers of private vehicles, motorcycle riders, and other motor vehicles who continually use the exclusive bus lane despite constant warnings and reminders. Currently, the prescribed fine for the violation of the exclusive bus lane regulation is P1,000 for each offense.
