David Pell, Julie Fauteux, Karen Donnelly, Tazmyn Eddy and Sasha Johnson make up the new face of True North Brass. CONTRIBUTEDYARMOUTH, NS – Hear! Here! Society and Debut Atlantic is presenting True North Brass in concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 at Holy Trinity Church on William Street in Yarmouth.

For over 20 years, True North Brass has been a fixture on the landscape of brass chamber music. In 2018, True North Brass re-emerged onto the Canadian and international concert stage with new membership and a new orchestral sound and repertoire. Their program features original brass compositions and arrangements, spanning centuries, which displays the brass quintet at its most virtuosic and lyrical. Opening with the aptly named Fire Dance by Anthony DiLorenzo, True North Brass will also perform music by J.S. Bach, Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, J. Scott Irvine, Morley Calvert, and Calixa Lavalée , Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Tchaikovsky and Gershwin.

Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and $10 for students. For tickets, contact Geoffrey Day at 906-649-2926 or by email atIn addition to the Oct. 14 concert, members of True North Brass are planning to meet with area music students and members of the Yarmouth Concert Band the next morning for a workshop before heading to Dartmouth for the next concert date on its cross Atlantic Canada tour.

For more than 30 years, Debut Atlantic has offered students throughout Atlantic Canada direct access to outstanding classical musicians. Through the ‘Debut Goes to School!’ program, students have the opportunity to participate in educational events directed at a wide range of age groups and levels of ability.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
