The hospital is in discussions with the province about improving the situation in its emergency department, said Moore. Among suggestions are expanding programs such as the Kids Come First care clinic at CHEO and East Ottawa Kids COVID Care Clinic. This year, with virtually all pandemic mandates removed, COVID-19 and other viruses are spreading through the community. Some children will never have been exposed to them. Many people are also expecting a severe flu season, based on the experience in the southern hemisphere during its winter.
