PETALING JAYA: Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa will try to resolve issues affecting the healthcare sector and its workers based on proposals and feedback received from the town hall session with doctors on Wednesday , says her office.
In a statement, it said issues on contract doctors, upgrading public healthcare facilities, shortage of doctors at emergency departments, better career pathway prospects for medical officers and other technical matters were raised at the town hall session attended by 350 doctors from the civil service.“YB Dr Zaliha appreciates and respects the views, feedback and proposals given during the two-hour town hall session,” the office said.
“With all the proposals and feedback received, she will try to resolve the issues raised through policy or technical solutions for the Health Ministry,” it added."It was generally a good meeting between the Health Minister and doctors, coordinated by the Malaysian Medical Association ," a spokesman for the group said after the closed-door session concluded on Wednesday evening.
"A lot of issues were raised and the Health Minister gave her assurance that she will investigate and try to resolve them. It is a good start," the spokesman added. The town hall session was a result of repeated calls and demands from healthcare workers and groups representing them, such as Hartal Doktor Kontrak, to look into the issues faced by the healthcare workers and the healthcare system as a whole.Article type: free
