Defence lawyer Alex Pate told the jury Tuesday that Kaz Cox had a hold over Miranda Lynn Taylor, who was infatuated with her older lover at the time and believed he was innocent of the murder.

The Crown alleges Taylor put the material on Facebook to try to provoke a state of fear in Rulla Cox and Jason Weagle and to help Kaz Cox – now her former boyfriend – escape liability for the homicide. Taylor said the couple never talked about Reece’s killing until after Cox was arrested in jail in November 2019 and charged with first-degree murder.
“I was drinking almost every day, and he hadn’t really said what his intentions were at the time of the posting.”She said she didn’t realize then that Rulla was a potential witness for Kaz’s trial.
