OK, it’s not the Larry O’Brien trophy that will be awarded as the Association is still in hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For basketball aficionados starving for any kind of hoops action, the Challenge is a welcome respite from watching old NBA and even PBA games on YouTube.Unlike the NBA H-O-R-S-E competition in the ‘70s and its modern incarnation in 2009 and 2010 , the 2020 Challenge is a virtual competition where participants don’t even have to leave the comfort of their homes .

Another giant-slayer in the opening round was Quigley when the 33-year-old from De Paul brought down Paul. In one sequence, the 5’10” guard channeled her inner Pistol Pete by executing a banked shot while sitting around 10 feet from the basket. Of course, Paul missed and eventually lost, which led to his son, Chris Jr., calling out his dad “You suck!”

Conley then completed the semifinal cast by beating 2011 WNBA MVP and 12-time All-WNBA team member Catchings. In the win, the veteran guard out of Ohio State displayed his “ambidextroisity” by effortlessly making shot after shot with his supposed off-hand. Having your own gym is nothing for Conley as he is in the middle of a five-year, $153-million deal that pays him around $32.5 million in 2020.

It would really be fun and thrilling seeing the likes of Barangay Ginebra’s Stanley Pringle taking on San Miguel Beer’s Terrence Romeo or Magnolia Hotshots’ Chris Banchero squaring off against Columbian Dyip’s C.J. Perez in a game of HORSE.
