This time, they are proposing to raise the rate from eight per cent to 11 per cent. That may be “just” a three-point increase. Nevertheless, it is a 37.5 per cent increase in the rate. Throwing that kind of wet blanket on the province’s biggest job creators will also indirectly hurt small businesses and working people, the very Albertans the NDP claims to want to help.Article content
Also to be remembered from the last NDP government — while they claimed their 20 per cent increase would bring in billions extra, the increase suppressed the economy enough that the treasury actually collected a total of nearly $9 billion less than expected.
