“The corporate tax cut has not worked as advertised by the UCP,” she said.
Tombe pointed to budget 2015, when the NDP increased the rate to 12 per cent from 10 per cent. That document cut the “mechanical effect,” or revenue multiplied by the increase in percentage points, by almost half. The NDP projections rely on the price of West Texas Intermediate oil remaining at least $79 per barrel, forecasted in the February budget.
