LUCENA CITY—A local government official in Lobo town in Batangas province was shot and killed by a lone gunman on Thursday night.

The Batangas police reported Friday, August 12 that Romeo Sulit, 61, the municipal council secretary, was delivering a speech around 8 p.m. at a debut party in Barangay Tayuman, when an assailant approached him from behind and shot him.He fled on foot and left his target with a fatal bullet wound at the back of his head.
