Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra will direct the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to prioritize its investigation of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes (PCSO) and its licensed gaming outlets over alleged anomalies so that its operations may normalize at the soonest possible time.

“I’ll just make sure that the NBI puts priority to this investigation because we know people are affected,” he told reporters Tuesday.

He noted that the NBI may focus its investigation “on allegations that proper government share is not being remitted” by PCSO-licensed operations like the Small Town Lottery and Peryahan ng Bayan. Guevarra learned that there have been previous court orders preventing the closure of Peryahan ng Bayan operations.

The DOJ chief said the NBI will also “probably focus on what’s happening inside the PCSO” concerning its own officials and employees.
