THE Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) announced the extension of its emergency loan program “to provide financial relief to members and pensioners in areas affected by Typhoon Enteng as soon as it has obtained the list of areas declared under state of calamity.
Residents engage in cleaning as floods caused by Tropical Storm Yagi, locally called Enteng, subside in Antipolo city, Rizal province, Philippines on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024.
A statement issued by the state pension-fund manager read the initiative “builds on GSIS’s ongoing emergency loan program, which has already been activated in several calamity-declared areas across the country.” The GSIS added that to qualify for the emergency loan, active members must meet certain criteria. The latter includes: residence or work in a calamity-declared area; not being on unpaid leave; having no pending administrative or legal cases; having no due and demandable loan; and, having made at least six monthly premium payments prior to applying.
