A MIGRANT advocacy group called on Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to grant clemency to Mary Jane Veloso, who has been detained in Indonesian for over a decade for a drug-related case.
“We appeal to the new president of Indonesia to protect victims of human trafficking and end the 14 years of Mary Jane’s suffering on death row and prison,” Migrante said in a statement. In 2010, Veloso was arrested in an Indonesian airport after she was caught carrying a luggage with 2.6 kilograms of heroin. She said she was unaware of the content of the luggage when it was handed to her by her recruiters.
