The Nagkaisa Labor Coalition Saturday, April 11, called on the Dole and the POEA to recall its order banning the deployment of selected health workers saying it is illegal and puts medical professionals in a difficult predicament.

“The deployment of all health care workers included in the list above is merely temporarily suspended until the national state of emergency is lifted and until the Covid-19 related travel restrictions are lifted at the destination countries,” the resolution states.

Matula said, “We call on Labor Secretary Bello to review, recall, and hold in abeyance the implementation of the ban of health workers to travel and work abroad”. “This ban is also problematic and might be an order imposing an involuntary servitude prohibited by the fundamental law,” he said. Add to this, he said, is that the ban has caused the offloading of newly-hired and returning health workers from their flights.
