THE advocacy organization Save Laguna Lake Movement (SLLM) is opposing a deal for South Korea to provide the Philippines a loan of $905 million or P54 billion for the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) Project, saying the land reclamation and its conversion will ruin the lake itself and its uses.

It asserted the project would lead to flooding, blocking the natural passageways of water from the mountains, thus affecting residents who live around the lake.With the LLRN Project, the Marcos administration will disregard the livelihood of residents around the lake and fail to develop the fisheries sector, SLLM said, adding that, instead of prioritizing the problems of fisherfolk and residents, the government is implementing anti-environment and anti-people projects like the LLRN.
