THE EcoWaste Coalition called for a wider ban on bisphenol A , a toxic endocrine disrupting chemical prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration five years ago.A recent check conducted by the group in Quiapo and Tondo revealed that some stores carry infant feeding bottles and cups with and without BPA.
It also urged the FDA to remove unauthorized and unlabeled baby bottles and sippy cups in the market,' the group said in a statement.'To further protect human health from adverse effects of BPA exposure, the EcoWaste Coalition also called on the FDA to take its cue from the European Union and initiate a process of banning BPA in food contact materials, including plastic and coated packaging.
