Google celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing with a new interactive Google doodle on its search page on Friday, July 19.
Like all other Google Doodles, it had the distinct letters spelled ‘Google’ in the background with the helmet of an astronaut setting foot on the moon and the faraway earth serving as the ‘oo’ in ‘Google’.Once the user clicked it, it would play an animated video about the moon landing which started on July 16, 1969.Michael Collins, Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the three astronauts who embarked on a mission for a man to set foot on the moon for the first time.
According to space.com, Apollo 11 was the product of the efforts of more than 400,000 people, and about 600 million people around the world watched as it transpired.
