L-Jay Gonzales came through in the clutch as FEU overcame defending champ Ateneo in overtime, 66-61, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, October 14 to take its first win in the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball tournament.
With the game tied at 59, Gonzales put the Tamaraws ahead with a jumper in the last 1:11 of the extra period.After a defensive stop, Gonzales put a world of pressure on the Blue Eagles as he drilled another jumper, a step-back one, with 35.
2 ticks left.FEU once more pulled off a defensive stop, paving the way for Torres to practically seal the win for the Tamaraws with two made free throws in the last 23.5 seconds.FEU, which once led 52-37, thus improved to 1-4.Ateneo, on the other hand, fell to 2-3.
