The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) and the Department of Education (DepEd) have joined forces to bolster STEM education in the Philippines through a new memorandum of agreement.
The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. GBF, a non-governmental organization founded in 1992 by brothers John, Henry, Johnson, and James Gokongwei to improve Philippine education, will collaborate with DepEd on several programs.
These include TeachSTEM scholarship programs for science and math educators, the Iskolar ni Juan program, the GBF Scholarship program, Juan Community collaboration programs, and educator capacity-building programs. TeachSTEM, the foundation's flagship program, aims to prepare and equip aspiring teachers to become competent educators by providing conducive and meaningful learning experiences. Benefits for TeachSTEM scholars include financial grants ranging from P65,000 to P85,000 per year, access to capacity-building programs, and a supportive community of educators
