Senator Bong Go underscores the importance of nurses in the Philippine healthcare system and pledges his commitment to enhancing their welfare and professional development.
SEN. Bong Go said nurses play a vital role in the country's health care system as he vowed to support measures to improve their welfare and professional growth. During the recent Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) Caraga Region conference in Surigao City, Go described the nurses as 'the backbone of our health care system.' The chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography said the conference resonated with his vision for the nursing profession.
'This captures your collective aspiration to empower Filipino nurses to not only overcome challenges but to thrive and succeed in both local and international stages,' Go said in his speech. He said nurses are the first to provide care, compassion and strength to patients during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Go also urged Filipino nurses to remain competitive in the global health care workforce. 'We must continuously invest in training, education and skills development to ensure that our nurses remain competitive and highly valued worldwide,' he said. Go said among the measures he has backed in supporting healthcare professionals is Republic Act 11712, which mandates the provision of health emergency allowance to health care workers who served during the pandemic. 'We continue to push for the release of the budget for the payment of the Health Emergency Allowance. Rest assured, I will continue to fight for your rights and well-being,' he said
