Bong Go reiterated his call for reforms in the medical technology profession during the 5th National Summit of the Philippine Society of Medical Laboratory Scientists Inc. at Novotel Hotel on Tuesday.Go said that Senate Bill 172, or the New Philippine Medical Technology Act, aims to overhaul the outdated 1969 law that governs the profession.

Technology has changed, prices have gone up, and your roles have expanded significantly,” Go said to more than 300 medical technologists and scientists in attendance.If enacted, the bill would establish a dedicated Professional Regulatory Board for medical technologists, modernize professional standards and improve entry-level compensation — a long-standing concern among health care workers.Go stressed the vital role of medical technologists in the country’s health care system.
