Globe Telecom Inc. is combating the rising tide of online fraud in the Philippines through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP). The program reached over 6,000 participants this year, educating them on digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and ethical technology use. Recent studies highlight the urgency of these efforts, revealing a significant number of Filipinos experiencing attempted fraud. Globe emphasizes the importance of education in mitigating online threats and aims to reach more schools and individuals nationwide.
Globe Telecom Inc. said it intensified its efforts to combat the growing online fraud in the Philippines.
These sessions provided invaluable lessons on cybersecurity awareness, empowering individuals and families to protect themselves against prevalent online scams. “Globe believes the antidote is education, that’s why we are bringing DTP to schools across the country. If our young people are aware of what to look out for and how to protect themselves online, they will get to enjoy the benefits of technology safely, spared from becoming another scam statistic,” she said.
Globe also brought DTP to the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, coinciding with the school’s Tech Week. A total of 200 ICT students attended discussions on AI ethics, where Globe emphasized the responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies.
