MANILA, Philippines — Christian Standhardinger delivered another big offensive game as Barangay Ginebra completed its fightback from a 15-point deficit to frustrate Meralco, 89-84 on Sunday to grab a 3-2 PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series lead at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Filipino-German punished the Bolts with 34 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, enabling the Gin Kings to move within a victory from reaching the best-of-seven title series and arranging a duel with their sister team San Miguel Beer.'The guys really kept their heads, moved forward and moved on and just found a way to grind out two wins,' said Cone after his team completed that gut-wrenching fightback.'It took us a bit to really get into battle mode.
'Ginebra can finish off Meralco on Wednesday and seal its Finals date with SMB when action shifts at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.Veteran combo guard Maverick Ahanmisi added 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Standhardinger's front court partner Japeth Aguilar had a double l-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Gin Kings.
